John R. Thompson is founder and principal of John Thompson Communications LLC, a thought leadership and strategic communication consultancy. He brings more than 30 years of experience as a professional communicator spanning journalism and corporate marketing roles at companies such as Intel and Dell. Thompson works with executives at organizations large and small to discover and articulate their strategic narrative, then helping them act on it in the marketplace. Thompson holds a Ph.D. in communication studies from the University of Texas at Austin and has taught leadership and management at Austin-area colleges. His domain expertise ranges from globalization to technology impact, corporate social responsibility, public policy, healthcare, sustainability and other areas of interest.


Kara Myers is a Silicon Valley veteran, born and raised there. Her technology background includes stints in corporate communications for software and networking companies. More recently, she has been a board member of Women Communicators of Austin coordinating programs across the advocacy group’s domain. She is a writer/editor for John Thompson Communications LLC as well as chief administrator. She is a hands-on project manager who keeps things moving forward for the benefit of clients and teammates.
